The night before it all happened to my laptop I received an email of EBAY which I sadly opened. It was obviously a fake as after doing so a security warning window popped up. I related this immediately to the well known ave.exe virus I had big problems with several months ago but could finally get rid of. I think this one is a developed version of ave.exe and I found that Windows defender as also Avira (the virus protection I use for a long time) was disabled. I interrupted the connection instantly and competely and rebooted my machine then run a virus scan in save mode and removed the rogue and trojan agent I found and rebooted then left it as that as it was late night and thinking the issue was sorted. I have not tried to reinstal anything and at no point I inserted a CD. The next mornining I found the activation window and the not in the bottom left corner saying my Windows was not genuine. I entered my Product Key as found at the back of my labtop which was not accepted. I run a few more virus scans and rebooted again which resulted in a scan disk on restart. At the next reboot my machine completed locked up saying the boot manager was compressed which I found extremely pecular. However, I managed to log on again eventually and contacted Microsoft via phone as explained in the last post. The one thing that strikes me is that after all my research regarding this matter everybody mentions a 30 day reactivation notice which I don't see, so I started wondering if the activation prompt could be a fake like the security warning although I can not locate another rogue in any further virus scans but find loads of win32.parate detections that constantly creates temp files. However, it is not clear if this is referring only to the OS X system it installs, since the Install DVD itself boots into 32bit mode according to the com.apple.Boot.plist in /Extra on the DVD:
